Over 350 eager participants hit the trail at Parliament Buildings on Sunday 11th June to celebrate Inspire’s second annual Colour Run and turn the warm summer air into a haze of reds, blues, greens, yellows and, of course, purples.
Building on the success of 2022, the 5k fun run brought together friends, families and communities, all of them raising money for, and awareness of, Inspire’s services.
Sponsored by Dunelm, the event saw people blasted with coloured powder as they negotiated the route around the Stormont Estate in east Belfast.
Alongside the race itself, and in collaboration with social enterprise ArtsEkta, Bollywood dancers were on hand to showcase the Colour Run’s origins in Eastern culture and the festival of Holi.
All of the proceeds from the day will support Inspire as it helps those living with mental ill health, intellectual disability, autism, and addictions.
Inspire CEO Kerry Anthony MBE said:
“We are delighted to be celebrating our second year of the Inspire Colour Run. It is going to be a fun-packed afternoon. We’re passionate about this event and about taking the Colour Run back to its roots by incorporating the themes of the festival of Holi: love, culture and new beginnings, while also supporting the importance of mental resilience in our communities. Our Colour Run is the perfect opportunity for families, friends and communities to come together and enjoy a day celebrating positive mental wellbeing.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to our sponsor Dunelm, our partner ArtsEkta, and our amazing volunteers for their support in making this such a special day.”
Dunelm’s Community Charity Manager, Laura York, said:
“We were so pleased to be asked by our partners Inspire to support this fantastic event for the second year in a row. People in the community taking the opportunity to come together and have some fun is a great way to support mental wellbeing. Many of our store colleagues will be joining in on the day, too.”
